Bio Summary

Dan is a very hard working artist and devoted to doing the best job he can do in any situation.

Early Life/Family

Dan Lund learned a very strong work ethic from his father and mother. His father was a handyman and his mother was in to doing crafts. He was more into movies than cartoons as a child. He was very particular, only the classics of animation such as Disney, but no Filmation.

Education/Training

After graduating from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 1989 he moved to California and landed a job with Disney Features as a production assistant. While working as a PA he trained to become an effects animator.

Career Outline

Dan Lund worked at Disney for 15 years as an Effects Animator. Dan was laid off when Disney Features traditional animation department in Burbank closed. He then moved to Florida to work on the Disney animated feature “Brother Bear”; was laid off again when production on that film wrapped. Soon after his lay off from Disney, Dan created a documentary about the shut down of Disney’s traditional feature animation department called “Dream On Silly Dreamer”. About two years later he was hired back at Disney Features in Burbank to work on the traditionally animated feature film “The Frog Prince”.

Dan Lund, though a fulltime effects animator, still finds time to do live action/ documentary films.

Influences

Loves the Disney classics, such as “The Rescuers” with the wonderful animation of Medusa by Milt Kahl, “101 Dalmatians”. He was also especially fascinated by Horror films.

Personality

Dan is highly respected and well liked for his talents as an effects animator.
He is a very friendly guy, easy going and easy to talk
to.

Anecdotes

Dan commented to me that he would love to have my job. He has always wanted to storyboard, especially songs. (I storyboard the songs on the hit show “Phineas and Ferb”). He would love to come by and see what I do.

Miscellaneous

Dan loves to direct live action films, which he has done time to time while working at Disney and during the two years he was laid off from Disney.
During his career at Disney Dan created some live action films/documentaries
including, Mamma D” “WANNABE: Just a Boy and Her Dream”, “Death Becomes Them”.
