As a child actor destined for stardom Stang was averaging 4 or 5 radio shows a day. In the 1940s, in addition to his other radio shows, Stang was a regular on The Goldbergs where he played Seymour Fingerhood, the Goldbergs teenage neighbor. Stang learned a lot from Gertrude Berg, the writer and director of the show. Stang was reluctant to branch out into television, but in 1953 finally gave in, and began a long successful television career. In 1961 Stang landed one of his most well known rolls as the voice of Hanna-Barbara’s Top Cat. He continued to appear in television, commercials and movies up through 2004.
