Bio Summary

Born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania in 1920 Bill Scott was raised in New Jersey. He later joined the United States Army's first Motion Picture Unit in WWII. He worked briefly as a story man in Art Davis' unit at Warner Bros. He joined UPA and later partnered with Jay Ward on the Rocky & Bullwinkle, George of the Jungle and Super Chicken series. Scott died in Tujunga CA. from a heart attack in Nov. 29th 1985.

Career Outline

Being in the United States Army's First Motion Picture Unit he began doing inbetweens and layouts with a UPA scenarist title. After WWII he became known as a story man at Warner Brothers, and later at UPA. In the late 50's Scott left UPA to join forces with Jay Ward (in Jay Ward Production) as head writer and co-producer to create the Rocky & Bullwinkle cartoon series. In 1959-63 he voice-acted as Bullwinkle, Dudley Do-Right, Peabody, Fearless Leader and Gidney. Scott also co-produced and story wrote Fractured Flickers (in 1963), Hoppity Hooper (in 1964-67) and Uncle Waldo's Cartoon Show (in 1965-66). In 1967-70 he became the voice for George in George of the Jungle and lent his voice to Disney as the original Gruffy in Gummi Bears. Later in his life he wrote commercials for General Mills, Quaker Oats, Cap'n Crunch Cereal and Hershey's Kisses.
