Early Life/Family

Con lived up in the woods of Minnesota, then moved to California in 1943. He grew up watching his parents make bombers and fighters during WWII. After going to college and starting UCLA, he was drafted into the army. He had a son in 1961.

Education/Training

Attended a city college and then UCLA from ’51 to ’53. Tried to finish school after being drafted in the army but was made an offer at Graphic Films.

Career Outline

He was swept up by Disney due to his background in writing science fiction (along with his experience in doing animation in college). He was then drafted into the army and worked on many films that had to do with very high end technology at the time (propulsion systems for missiles and rockets). Later Con got hired after he got out of the army by Graphic Films to direct films about the air force. After that, he worked on Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, and continued to do special effects for movies since then.
