Born 27 January 1909. in Passiac N.J.
Died Sept 10, 2000 in Sherman Oaks, C.A. from an illness.

Started out as a Graphic Designer at the National Academy of Design in New York City until being hired in 1936 as an animator for Disney.


Career Outline

Animated for Disney starting in 1936, and then after leaving founded Graphic Films in 1941. He produced films for World Fair expositions and helped establish Showsphere Corporation. He caught the eye of Stanley Kubrick who enlisted Novro’s talent in special effects and visual design for 2001: Space Odyssey.

"The first time I truly understood the unique quality of film was when I took Les Novros' class," Lucas wrote in an introduction to the textbook Novros fashioned from his lectures at USC from 1941 to 1984.
