Bio Summary

Early Life/Family

Career Outline

MacDonald got his start with the Disney Studios by serving as a drummer for the Mickey Mouse short "The Band Concert." In order to increase his musical versitility, be began collecting odd gadgets and instruments to augment his rhythms. These gadgets formed the seeds of his career in becoming the first, and eventually lead, effects man at Disney. He also played the jugs and ocarina on the sound track of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." In addition to his skills in sound effects he also served as a voice actor for many characters. Perhaps most notable, he was the second person to serve as the voice of Mickey Mouse, as well as the voice of Evinrude (the dragonfly) from "The Rescuers." There is not a lot of information on his life as a biography, but I was fortunate to find a pretty extensive filmography on his career as a voice actor and a sound effects artist.
